Privacy Policy

What we collect

UnitCheck uses minimal data collection by design. Here is exactly what we track:

Aggregate analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. This service is cookieless and does not store your IP address in our UnitCheck account. We see only aggregated metrics: total pageviews, unique visitor count, referrer sources, device types (mobile/desktop), browser family, and basic geographic region. No personally identifiable information is collected or stored.

Affiliate click tracking

When you click an outbound link to a retailer (Amazon, or future partners), we log:

  • A randomized click identifier (not linked to you personally)
  • The page you clicked from
  • The product you clicked on
  • The date and time of the click
  • Your country (derived from locale, not IP)

This data helps us understand which products and categories drive sales, and is essential for our business model. We do not log your IP address, user agent, or any identifying information.

Service logs

Cloudflare may retain standard edge access logs per its own privacy policy. UnitCheck does not separately request, store, or analyze these logs.

What we don't do

  • No cookies for tracking — we do not use cookies to recognize you across visits or across sites
  • No cross-site pixels — we do not place tracking pixels from Facebook, Google, TikTok, or other ad networks (except when you run an Amazon affiliate link, which is governed by Amazon's policy)
  • No session replay tools — we do not record your mouse movements, clicks, or keyboard input
  • No email collection — we do not ask for your email or phone number (no newsletter, no "save for later")
  • No user accounts — you cannot create an account, so we have no profile data to store
  • No fingerprinting — we do not use browser fingerprinting or device identifiers
  • No data selling — we do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties (except as required by law)

When you click an affiliate link and leave UnitCheck to go to Amazon or another retailer, that retailer's privacy policy applies to your behavior on their site. UnitCheck has no control over their data practices.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Know what we have — Request any data we hold about you (which, if you have not used affiliate links, is nothing)
  • Delete your data — If we have logged your clicks, you may request deletion of those records
  • Ask questions — Email [email protected] with any privacy concerns

We will respond within 30 days.

California residents (CCPA): You also have the right to opt out of any "sale" of personal information. UnitCheck does not sell personal information, so this right does not apply. If we ever do enable third-party ad pixels (Layer 3), we will add a "Do Not Sell" link to the footer and provide an explicit opt-out mechanism.

EU/UK residents (GDPR): Your personal data is processed only where necessary for our legitimate business interest (operating the site and tracking conversions). You have the right to access, correct, or delete your data at any time. We do not transfer data outside the EU/UK without your consent.

Children

UnitCheck is not directed at children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately. Please contact [email protected] if you have concerns.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy over time. Substantive changes (not just grammar fixes) will be noted in the public /changelog with the date and summary of what changed. You can always check this page to see when it was last updated.
