What this service is

UnitCheck is an information website that calculates the per-unit cost of consumer products and displays that data alongside affiliate links to retailers (Amazon, and in the future, Walmart, Best Buy, and others). We earn a commission on qualifying purchases when you click through and buy from a retailer.

By using UnitCheck, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please stop using the site.

Affiliate links and our business model

We earn commissions

When you click a link on UnitCheck and make a purchase from a retailer, we earn an affiliate commission. The affiliate program is disclosed on every page where links appear.

This does not change the price you pay. The retailer's price is the same whether you arrive via UnitCheck or directly. You do not pay any extra fee, and you are not paying us for the link.

We do not accept payment for placement

Our rankings are calculated by formula, documented on our public /methodology page. We do not accept money, free products, or other consideration from manufacturers, brands, or retailers to rank a product higher, feature it prominently, or exclude a competitor. Our formula does not account for affiliate commission rates — cheaper-to-rank does not mean more profitable for us.

If you suspect that a ranking is unfair, email [email protected] and we will investigate.

Prices and freshness

Prices change

The prices shown on UnitCheck are from our most recent sync with the retailer's API or website. Every page displays a "Last synced" timestamp (e.g. "Checked 2 hours ago"). Always verify the price on the retailer's site before purchasing. Prices can change at any time, and we cannot guarantee they are current at the moment you click.

We sync on a schedule

We refresh prices automatically:

• Every 6 hours for the top 50 products per category
• Every 72 hours for less popular products

This means some prices may be up to 3 days old. Check the timestamp on the page.

No warranty; accuracy is our effort, not a guarantee

UnitCheck is provided "as is." We do our best to be accurate, but we make no guarantee that:

• Every product's nutrition data (protein per serving, servings per container) is correct
• Our unit-price calculations are error-free
• Prices are current
• A product is in stock or available for purchase
• A retailer's affiliate link works

We test our formulas and validate our data, but mistakes happen. If you find an error, please report it to [email protected] and we will fix it.

Not medical or nutritional advice

The information on UnitCheck (protein content, ingredients, dietary claims) is provided for informational purposes only. It is not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for reading the product's nutrition label and consulting your physician or nutritionist.

Always read the product packaging before consuming it.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, UnitCheck and its operator are not liable for:

• Your decision to purchase a product based on UnitCheck data
• The accuracy, safety, or quality of any product
• Any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or from any transaction with a retailer
• Any third-party claims arising from your use of the site

Even if we are notified of the possibility of such damages, our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid us (which is $0, since the service is free).

In no case shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Scrape, spider, or otherwise automatically download large portions of this site's content
• Copy our methodology, rankings, or product data and republish them without attribution to UnitCheck
• Attempt to circumvent security, access control, or rate limits
• Use this site for any purpose other than personal shopping research
• Impersonate UnitCheck or misrepresent your affiliation with us
• Reverse-engineer our extraction, calculation, or ranking algorithms

If we detect abuse, we may block your access to the site without warning.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Substantive changes will be noted in the public /changelog with the date and a summary of what changed. If you continue using the site after a change, you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California.
